Darn those tags of 100 crore collections

With an immense power and emergence of social media, there rose a new bubble of marketing in Hindi film industry, Bollywood - 100 Crore club. Bollywood - start studded industry, entertaining millions of people, generating umpteen number of item numbers, contributing significantly to the Economy; still, one of the highly sought stage for actors, and artists.

Post first half decade of millennium, Bollywood metamorphosed into an industry armed with appealing yet trivial dialogues, cheap item songs, bringing in new action scenes robbed from Tollywood, spectacular vistas from overseas. Along with these, came flashing 6 packs from actors, skinny actresses, which added the final condiment to send back viewers home, with an awe. But, then, there came the tag of 100 crores of money minted, which raised the bar, and set new standards of any movie irrespective, of it's genre, cast, story, and the targeted audience.
I regret to say, that the bolder the tag gets, the lower industry is sinking in its quality to produce: scripts, artists, movies, and music. There's no denial that numbers represent a good deal of anything, but how come these numbers can speak if any debut flick from a new comer is able to amass such a wealth and brand an actor? If you're to charge INR 800 plus or more per show per person, on weekend, I'd be shocked if 100 crores is unachievable. So, why boast such a bogus feat and make a public spectacle?

For those who grew up watching movies of late 80s, and 90s; these 100 crores flicks club are just a source of burning a hole in pocket, and yawning silently in a movie hall, sadly. Off late, I seldom find any movie which can be watched with family, kids and can give goose bumps. Most if not all movies, are either a sequel, or as they call inspired (read as plagiarize) from another movie, or play. They would be laded with slang, lip-locks, and banalities. The list is endless of such movies, and dull scenes that are pumped in to anchor viewers, not many though. Of course, there are and have been exceptions, of the aforementioned things, but an overload and redundant additions is nothing but worthless.
Hindi movies have now degraded. They are nothing but devoid of plot, charming and heart-rending romantic scripts, impeccable dialogues that can bring down the house, throwing people in teary laughter. If anything that has distinguished Hindi cinema from others was poignancy, which seems diminishing, unfortunately.

Moreover, it would be wise for film makers to revisit 90s' movies and to reflect upon what has become of the industry. With changing trends, and movie tastes, it is of utmost importance to movie makers to stay abreast of what viewers are now wanting and would be willing to put their hard earned money, and precious time. Except for any of the production houses are listed or plan to list in Stock exchange, it's completely impertinent to anyone let alone the movie addicts of the money flicks have garnered in less than 10-12-36 hours, or any number of days. If you're to stick to your job of making movie, then do us a favor of doing it with whole heartedness with some ingenuity.

Unless movie makers undergo a paradigm shift these 100 crores would remain mere number than statistics.
