Vegas trip: worth every penny

What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think Vegas? Oh, come on, you can't be a slave of your carnal desires? Casinos they are.  Go and watch any Vegas based movie, read magazine(s) and articles on Vegas; you would come to know Casinos are the pulse of the town. Casinos have enticed throngs of tourists in this city and will continue to do so. For those who aren't aware, Vegas is situated in Nevada state. 

Like many people mainly youth, I too had the excitement to visit one of the most lively city of States - Vegas; rather I'd say, I do have. Joy of striding on those brightly lit streets, drop your jaw to the ostentatious hotels, fabulous bill boards, luminous casinos. Get a snap around hotel Bellagio, the world famous fountains, check different wonders of world - all in one line, the spinning roulette with tiny ball jumping, poker chips, slot machines and what not. Vegas has everything, what you need to resuscitate to get back to your life. 

Fortunate enough, I got company and time to hang out in Vegas, rarely you get such a combination these days. To my surprise despite being a tourist destination, the stay wasn't expensive (relatively). You wouldn't be burning a hole in your pocket unless you decide to get extravagant in gambling. 

It is a fun packed city fused with excitement. You can attend live shows, walk through the Vegas strip by walk - Ah, the best thing I would say. On the way you would watch the most embellished hotels, namely: Flamingo, Caesars palace, MGM; horde of people amazed at the beauty of city. Vegas has been the most admired place for gamblers. If you believe in luck or want to test your luck dive into this city and see what colors your luck has stored in it! 
As can be inferred, there is nothing in this city during day times. I cannot give the account of day times, as I myself didn't witness, how it could be. 

If you can understand structures well, Vegas is blessed with such pieces too. Magnificent tower - Stratosphere. This building stretches up to the height of 350 meters. It looks like some airport traffic control tower but do not get deceived by that, stop judging things by looks. At night, it can give you the majestic view from the top and you would be left with your eyes wide open to cherish those moments. You can do so, the same, with a chopper ride for ~12-15 minutes. I bet those 12-15 minutes you will never ever forget. 

Stay on the edge and plan your trip well. Atleast 3-4 days are required to visit places and hotels without rushing. Oh did I just say Plan? Who plan things in their 20s?
Do visit this Mecca of Gambling.

After a sabbatical, I returned to my maneuver of losing myself into novel(s). This time, I picked the much talked and rated as one of the best sellers of year 2013, Inferno by Dan Brown. The novel is 5 th by author. I missed The Lost Symbol , shall get it soon though. Without losing your attention, I will take you through my experience of it. If you have read other works of Brown, then you would be familiar of his art of gluing you with small intricacies of art and designs. He never refrains from going into the minutest detail of culture,  history, and of course architecture. If you had enjoyed his previous books, this is definitely a go-go for you then. Wait, read the next paragraphs. Book again revolves and begins with Robert Langdon. This time he wakes up in Florence, Italy, with a wound on the back of his head. Suffering from amnesia, story kick starts. One sign leading to other and the chain-reaction continues. I was thrilled by the way it is tailored, simply absorbing.

Standing in snow

It was snowing in morning. Light snow flakes, ones hampering your visibility, intermittently falling on eyelashes, melting on eye-glasses. The chills weren't there, it was cold. Such mornings make my knees go weak. It's not the work, or routine, it's the moment I want to sit in my room, gaze outside, see the town get coated in white dust. I get overwhelmed by these moments. Rush to work, lines on the forehead, thoughts in the subconscious mind fade away. It was similar to stomping my heart for something I cared less. I breathed in the cold air, stood in the snow at station close to office, smiled and braced self for the day ahead.

Around DC

Since the beginning of this year I immersed self in reading. One of the reasons was to surpass my last year's book tally and also, to read the vast number of classics available through library at my institution. In this effort I got engrossed and detached with outer world. There were few places in DC I'd wanted to go and would love to visit again and again.  Breaking the monotony I visited Library of Congress and Capitol Hill. I started my day at Library of Congress (LOC). I joined on time to get first tour. In there, personnel would took us through one of the rare collections of Bible, their manufacturing contents, the temperatures these treasures are maintained at. Over the tour you'd get to know meanings of different symbolisms in architecture - how sculptures are looking in a certain direction, various other props.
